Camphill Families and Friends is always keen to support new initiatives within the wider Camphill movement. One such project is The Mount Camphill Community’s new cohousing initiative. The community has purchased Pond House, in the village of Wadhurst in East Sussex which, once renovated, will provide a home for six new and existing members of The Mount’s cohousing community.
The Mount has embarked on an ambitious campaign to raise £613,000 to fund the renovation of Pond House. Many very generous contributions have been received from individuals, trusts and foundations and organisations, including Camphill Families and Friends. We were delighted to contribute £10,000 from our small donations fund towards the redevelopment of Pond House.
Members of The Mount and their families and friends have also thrown themselves into enthusiastic fundraising. Fundraising activities have included the creation and sale of beautiful and sustainable products, pop-up cafes and retreats, local events with groups in Wadhurst, sponsored sky dives by students and their families, and a marathon swim. Sadly, the coronavirus pandemic has, of course, called a halt to much of this fundraising work.
It is wonderful news that a tremendous 73.1% of what is needed has already been raised, and The Mount is now on the last push to raise the remaining funds. If you are able to support this wonderful initiative, you can find out how to do so here.
