Handover Guide
The most important things to know, when supporting someone who lives in a UK Camphill community.
It’s not always easy having a family member or friend with a learning disability, especially if you want to support them as much as possible. We created this guide because some of our members wanted a summary of the most important things to know, when supporting someone who lives in a UK Camphill community.
It’s called the ‘Handover Guide’ because it’s especially useful when parents want to start handing over responsibility for supporting their son or daughter to someone else (maybe a sibling or close friend).
Contents:
Taking over as the supporter of someone with learning disabilities
Where does funding come from?
What is Advocacy?
The Mental Capacity Act
Appointeeship, Lasting Power of Attorney and Deputyship
Wills and Trusts
For anyone taking on the role of supporting someone with a learning disability living in a Camphill community.
There are two versions of the Guide, one for England and one for Scotland:
“Family is at the heart of Camphill in many different ways and living in a Camphill community doesn’t replace or reduce the importance of family who continue to play a huge part in an individual’s life.”
