About Us

Camphill Families and Friends is the only organisation dedicated to supporting families and friends of people with learning disabilities who live in Camphill communities in the UK.

We know that in recent years changes in funding and social care have brought about big changes in many Camphill communities. We support the life and work of the Camphill movement and think it is important that its key values are maintained. We also strive to spread the word and articulate the benefits of Camphill communities.

We’re here to help you

Our members are mainly families and friends of people with learning disabilities who live in a variety of UK Camphill communities. We offer support, information and partnership. Useful publications such as our Handover Guide are free to download from our website.

We keep you up-to-date

We keep our members informed about the latest news on Camphill and the ever-changing social care world. We do this through our website and regular News Updates. We also invite our members to two Open Meetings and three online Coffee Mornings every year. These are a chance to discuss issues of interest and concern, to share experiences, ask questions and get support from other families and people in the same boat.

We support siblings too

We also know that a sibling’s experience of having a brother or sister with a learning disability can be different to that of a parent, so we run a siblings Facebook group and occasional siblings workshops. Find out more about our support for siblings.

We give a voice to families and friends

We liaise closely with many Camphill communities and with our members in order to influence change, including responding to government consultations on matters which may affect Camphill life.

We support new Camphill initiatives

Our Donation Fund supports the development of the Camphill movement in the UK.
