Our Life Our Choice‘s national conference is taking place on Thursday 3 April at Woburn House Conference Centre, Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9HQ.

It will be chaired by Dame Hilary Cass, OBE. A number of Camphill Families and Friends trustees are planning to attend. We hope to see some of our members there!

This is a conference designed by families with lived experience for families, service users and professionals in the Health and Social Care field to explore the law, the frameworks, the choice and the Care Quality Commission in respect of care and accommodation for adults with severe learning disabilities. It will explore the legal framework that protects the rights of people with learning disabilities and examine where these rights are often denied. A care provider will give insight into the influence of the “Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture” guidance has on care providers and how places are commissioned. Additionally, the conference will delve into academic research, the CQC’s perspective, and the profound impact these decisions and frameworks have on families.

A buffet lunch is available to all those who attend, as are refreshments throughout the event.
